Requirements

10+ years of experience in Data Science.
2+ years of experience at Staff, Principal, or Director level.
Hands-on experience deploying machine learning in production.
Experience developing NLP solutions and AI-assisted development.
Proficiency writing production-grade code in Python or a comparable high-level language.
Advanced SQL and query optimization skills.
Track record of leading high-complexity projects from scoping to production with minimal direction.
Experience running search-specific projects (ranking, retrieval, or indexing) is preferred.
Familiarity with large-scale search infrastructure (e.g., Vespa, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr) is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a remote-first, evidence-first environment.
Must be able to attend video meetings on camera.
Ability to travel at least twice a year for company meetups and retreats.

Responsibilities

Drive product and business impact by improving search engine ranking and results.
Improve first-phase ranking quality and precision.
Develop new lexical-matching and document-authority signals.
Expand search evaluations to measure relevancy readiness and surface ranking blindspots.
Investigate LLMs for feature generation and ranking.
Advise others on complex data science work and turn ambiguous problems into well-defined projects.
