Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in neurology surgery coding, including both inpatient and outpatient physician claims.
- Active CPC certification from the AAPC.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state coding regulations and official coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work 20 hours per week.
- Proven ability to work independently, multi-task, and interface with all levels of personnel.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must maintain required professional credentials throughout employment.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality surgical coding on neurology surgery chart types as assigned.
- Review clinical documentation to apply accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Maintain a 95% accuracy rate while meeting established productivity standards.
- Work the review queue daily and communicate any necessary corrections to the facility.
- Provide accurate answers to physician and hospital coding or billing questions within eight hours.
- Code or pend every chart placed in the queue within 24 hours.
- Collaborate with the internal quality control staff to meet facility quality standards.
