Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant International Trade Compliance or Supply Chain Management experience (or equivalent education/experience mix).
  • Deep expertise in international import/export compliance, specifically US and Canadian customs regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of EAR classification, OFAC, BIS requirements, Harmonized Tariff Classification, and CTPAT.
  • Experience working with Partner Government Agencies such as the FDA within pharmaceutical or life sciences sectors.
  • Understanding of duty reduction and elimination programs including Free Trade Agreements, Duty Drawback, and Foreign Trade Zones.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, managing, and auditing trade compliance programs.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
  • US Customs Broker License (considered highly valuable).
  • Working knowledge of SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS) preferred.
  • People leadership experience including coaching and talent development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily import and export compliance operations across the US and Canada while providing guidance to regional teams.
  • Oversee customs brokers and facilitate efficient, accurate, and timely customs clearance activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance programs, policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Partner with customs authorities, regulatory agencies, brokers, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
  • Establish and execute audit programs covering import entries, export filings, valuation methodologies, and documentation.
  • Manage and assign HTS classifications, ECCNs, FDA import product codes, and country-of-origin determinations.
  • Conduct internal audits and business assessments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and deliver global trade compliance training for cross-functional teams.
