Requirements
- Expert-level Looker/LookML knowledge (views, explores, model files, dimension/measure design).
- Strong SQL proficiency (data profiling, window functions, joins).
- Experience with row-level security implementation in Looker.
- Literacy in dimensional modeling (star schemas, fact/dimension design, slowly changing dimensions).
- Proven experience delivering at least one full BI migration from platforms like Tableau, SSRS, or similar to Looker.
- Experience working in Git-based development workflows including branch management and peer review.
- Familiarity with Liquid templating in Looker.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced consulting environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for client-facing engagements.
- Capacity to learn and upskill into emerging technologies like Omni.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Looker semantic models end-to-end including model files, views, explores, and dashboards.
- Migrate legacy reports to Looker by mapping columns, documenting gaps, and rebuilding against governed data models.
- Perform data profiling using SQL to validate source data quality before dashboard development.
- Implement and maintain row-level security using Looker user attributes and access filters.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to secure sign-off on column mappings and handle data gaps.
- Maintain LookML standards across the team through peer reviews and Git-based workflows.
- Communicate status, trade-offs, and project risks directly to client stakeholders.
- Mentor junior developers and review their technical work.
