Requirements

  • PhD, PharmD, or MD required.
  • At least 2 years of professional medical writing experience within medical communications, healthcare advertising, or a related environment.
  • Proven experience developing medical and scientific content for healthcare audiences.
  • Diverse therapeutic-area expertise, with experience in CNS and oncology strongly preferred; willingness and ability to rapidly develop expertise in new therapeutic areas.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and familiarity with promotional and regulatory review processes.
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar medical and marketing subject matter and accurately interpret complex medical data and literature.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when ensuring scientific accuracy, consistency, and comprehensive referencing.
  • Proven time-management and project-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact confidently with clients, KOLs, and internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of AMA editorial guidelines and professional medical writing standards.

Responsibilities

  • Critically evaluate, analyze, and interpret medical literature and scientific data to develop high-quality medical education and communications materials.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of materials such as advisory board content, presentation decks, and other medical education activities.
  • Develop scientifically accurate, audience-appropriate content that aligns with project objectives, approved client materials, and applicable editorial standards.
  • Ensure all medical content is appropriately referenced, sourcing additional literature or information when necessary.
  • Build and maintain subject-matter expertise across multiple therapeutic areas, with particular exposure to CNS, oncology, and rare disease.
  • Participate actively in client meetings and regulatory or promotional review processes, incorporating feedback and preparing materials for submission.
  • Apply established professional medical editorial practices, including AMA style, ethical standards, and rigorous quality-control procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with account management, digital, shared services, and other internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, key opinion leaders, and internal stakeholders throughout the development and review process.
  • Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while maintaining a consistently high standard of scientific accuracy and editorial quality.
