Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
- 4–6 years of experience in provider credentialing, licensing, privileging, healthcare operations, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification such as Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) through the National Association of Medical Staff Services is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with credentialing software.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of credentialing, licensing, privileging, re-credentialing, and provider onboarding processes.
- Ability to apply relevant regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to coach, develop, motivate, and manage team members effectively.
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with the ability to monitor metrics, identify operational issues, and drive process improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with providers, leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, handle escalations, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare operations environment.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate with remote teams while maintaining accountability, engagement, and service quality.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the credentialing team, including coaching, training, performance management, timekeeping oversight, and day-to-day guidance for direct reports.
- Oversee provider credentialing, licensing, privileging, re-credentialing, and onboarding activities, ensuring processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Manage operational workflows, including application readiness reviews, credentialing file-path assessments, worklist management, and updates to credentialing systems and software.
- Partner with internal leadership, local practices, providers, and external clients to coordinate requirements, communicate progress, resolve issues, and maintain high levels of stakeholder satisfaction.
- Monitor team performance and operational metrics, identify workflow bottlenecks, and implement improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and internal controls.
- Manage escalated credentialing and operational issues, using sound judgment to determine appropriate resolutions and ensure timely follow-through.
- Conduct audits and quality reviews to identify gaps, strengthen processes, and support ongoing compliance.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives designed to optimize credentialing, licensing, privileging, and provider onboarding operations.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture within a fully remote working environment.
