Requirements
- 11-15 years of legal experience.
- Minimum 4 years at a top law firm as an employment or executive compensation associate.
- Experience working in-house advising business and HR clients.
- Significant experience with global workforces (Australia, Canada, UK, Europe, or Africa).
- Substantial experience drafting and negotiating workforce-related agreements.
- Deep working knowledge of employment law (hiring, discipline, leaves, discrimination, etc.).
- Experience supporting internal immigration and mobility specialists.
- Public-company or IPO-readiness experience, specifically regarding executive compensation disclosure.
- Litigation and internal investigation experience regarding employee disputes.
- J.D. degree and active admission to a state bar or equivalent in Canada.
- Ability and desire to travel periodically (roughly 3x per year).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain global employment law policies, handbooks, and workforce compliance procedures.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various employment, consulting, and separation agreements.
- Advise on international employment matters, including hiring, termination, wage and hour, and remote work issues.
- Act as the primary legal point of contact for litigation, arbitration, mediation, and agency charges.
- Partner with HR, immigration, and mobility teams to manage a global, mobile workforce.
- Support public-company readiness regarding executive compensation and employment disclosures.
- Hire and supervise outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide legal counsel on employee benefits and labor relations, including collective consultation.
