Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in government contracting or public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of government contracting financial structures, cost accounting principles, and compliance requirements (FAR, CAS, DCAA).
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger accounting.
  • Current CPA or CMA certification, or active progress toward obtaining a CPA or CMA, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to support project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other documentation required for accurate financial records.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate appropriate corrections.
  • Apply GAAP, internal accounting policies, and applicable government contracting and regulatory requirements to daily accounting activities.
  • Support DCAA and financial statement audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses to information requests.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, prepaid expense accounts, and related supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile payroll, benefits, taxes, and labor distributions while supporting labor transfers and project labor adjustments.
