Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years combined experience across product design and front-end engineering.
- Proficiency in Figma and modern front-end codebases.
- Proven experience owning or substantially contributing to a production design system and a Storybook or equivalent component library.
- Strong front-end skills including React, TypeScript, and modern CSS (design tokens).
- Expertise in accessibility best practices.
- Comfort with AI-enabled design and prototyping workflows.
- Ability to systematize design taste into reusable patterns and components.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document patterns and influence without authority.
- Self-directed and outcome-oriented work style.
- B2B SaaS or enterprise software experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Own the Oomnitza design system end-to-end: visual language, interaction patterns, accessibility guardrails, and the rules that keep the product feeling like one product.
- Maintain and extend the Storybook component library, ensuring components are correct, documented, performant, and accessible.
- Build and maintain the prototyping tooling including design tokens, AI-prompt scaffolds, design markdowns, and starter kits.
- Consult with Product Engineers on UX interactions and produce new patterns, components, or guidance to integrate into the system.
- Partner with engineering to align the design system and implementation library, identifying interactions to be promoted into the system.
- Review prototypes against the system, flag design drift, and maintain the quality bar for design output.
- Track advancements in Figma plugins, AI design tooling, and accessibility standards to propose team efficiency investments.
