Requirements

  • MD or DO degree with board certification.
  • Must be an American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) diplomate.
  • Licensed to practice and prescribe legally in Alabama, Missouri, or Mississippi.
  • Multi-state practice capability: must hold a valid Letter of Qualification (LOQ) through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) or meet prerequisites to secure one.
  • Prior experience conducting telemedicine visits with excellent web-side manner.
  • Prior experience working collaboratively with advanced practice professionals and registered dietitians.
  • Committed to evidence-based approaches to obesity management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
  • Current or previous credentialing with insurance payers is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a clinical setting focusing on evidence-based obesity treatment and chronic weight management.
  • Manage own patient panel and collaborate with Registered Dietitians.
  • Provide treatment planning and medical management support for complex cases or escalated concerns.
  • Prescribe non-controlled obesity medications for patients under direct care.
  • Ensure clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways are followed consistently.
  • Assist in the professional development of APPs through clinical growth support, feedback, and supervision.
  • Participate in team-based care initiatives and departmental quality improvement efforts.
  • Attend departmental meetings and participate in a rotating after-hours call schedule.
