Job Details

Experience: 5+ years

Requirements

5+ years of direct, hands-on Florida experience filing residential property tax appeals.
Personal experience filing or arguing petitions before a Florida Value Adjustment Board (VAB).
Direct experience adjudicating as a special magistrate.
Deep understanding of Florida property tax appeals processes, including DR-486, TRIM notices, and §194.014.
Proven expertise navigating county-level differences across major volume counties.
Must not be currently advising another company building consumer property tax appeal software.
Strong preference for candidates based in Florida.
Ability to work independently as a contractor on an as-needed basis (5-10 hours per week).

Responsibilities

Clarify practical application of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules (12D-9, 12D-10).
Advise on county-specific nuances for Property Appraiser's offices and VABs across major Florida counties.
Guide the team through filing mechanics, including TRIM notice timing, the 25-day window, and partial-payment requirements.
Help design user flows for hearings and evidence preparation, including comparable selection and evidence exchange windows.
Review product features and flag potential issues to ensure regulatory compliance before customer-facing deployment.
