Requirements
- 5+ years of software or data engineering experience with a track record of operating production systems.
- Deep expertise in writing clean, modular Python.
- Advanced SQL skills including database design, modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions on AWS.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Experience designing resilient ELT/ETL orchestration workflows.
- Experience containerizing applications with Docker.
- Experience designing robust APIs and backend microservices.
- Ability to operate from high-level, ambiguous objectives with a high-ownership mindset.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end technical responsibility for a business domain’s data platform from architecture to production.
- Build reliable, idempotent ETL/ELT pipelines, backend APIs, and data services.
- Design, deploy, and manage secure AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Contribute reusable tooling back to the shared ecosystem for other engineers.
- Optimize data models, query performance, and system architecture with automated testing.
- Collaborate with the UK Data Engineering team to translate business goals into technical solutions.
