Requirements
- 4-5 years of California Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience
- CA workers compensation adjuster license
- 4850 experience
- Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and related experience
- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Associates in Claims or Associates in Risk Management designation preferred
Responsibilities
- Receive claim, confirm policy coverage and acknowledgement of the claim
- Determine validity and compensability of the claim by investigating and gathering information
- Establish reserves and authorize payments within reserving authority limits
- Develop and manage action plans to reduce overall cost of the claim
- Coordinate early return-to-work efforts
- Manage subrogation and litigation of claims
- Report claims to the excess carrier when applicable
- Communicate claim status with the customer and claimant
- Adhere to client and carrier guidelines and participate in claims reviews
