Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial health insurance underwriting.
- Demonstrated experience with large group health insurance underwriting for fully insured business.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate risk and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Proficiency with underwriting software and tools.
- Knowledge of current healthcare regulations and market trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must reside in the United States within EST or CST time zones.
- Ability to maintain a dedicated work area that provides information privacy and document security.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite new business and renewal opportunities for large group fully insured commercial health plans.
- Interpret and analyze underlying claims experience to inform underwriting decisions and policy adjustments.
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop competitive insurance products and strategies.
- Assist in the development of insurance policies or suggest changes to balance market needs with company risk.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting product design and underwriting.
- Maintain accurate records of policies, underwriting decisions, and concessions.
- Coordinate with brokers and agents to gather information and explain underwriting decisions.
