Requirements
- 5+ years building backend software at a product company.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including APIs, async processing, concurrency, and performance tuning.
- Solid SQL skills in a backend context, including schema design, query optimization, and production migrations.
- Experience with MySQL and ClickHouse.
- Deep understanding of service design, data flow, latency, and failure modes.
- Proven experience running production services on Kubernetes and AWS (EKS, IAM, networking, RDS, S3).
- Proficiency with CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD/Flux, Terraform/Pulumi).
- Expertise in observability practices (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
- Experience shipping production code using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor).
- Ability to work independently in a distributed, async team.
- Fluent in English.
Responsibilities
- Design and build robust backend services and APIs in Java for a multi-tenant SaaS platform.
- Ship product features end-to-end while collaborating directly with product teams and customers.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of backend services.
- Manage production deployment and infrastructure operations on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and observability systems.
- Improve systems that support agentic development and safe AI-driven shipping.
- Drive architectural decisions for service design and platform evolution.
