Requirements
- Native-level proficiency in Japanese as spoken in Japan.
- Strong foundation in linguistics or a related field, with ability to apply phonetics, prosody, and intonation concepts.
- Experience with data annotation, transcription, or language quality assurance.
- Strong written English proficiency for reports, guidelines, and team communication.
- Ability to write clear, structured instructions and deliver specific, actionable feedback.
- Experience working with data and metrics such as inter-rater agreement scores and audit spreadsheets.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to manage feedback cycles and QA reviews without close oversight.
- Conversational spoken English proficiency for meetings and calibration syncs (preferred).
- Experience writing or maintaining annotation guidelines or rubrics (preferred).
- Experience training, mentoring, or managing other annotators (preferred).
- Experience with audio evaluation, TTS, or STT (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Manage annotation quality, audit data, and monitor voice AI product performance.
- Investigate language-specific issues reported by customers and identify root causes.
- Provide ground truth assessments of TTS output, including pronunciation, prosody, and naturalness.
- Develop and maintain annotation guidelines, onboarding materials, and resources.
- Prep and lead calibration meetings and hold office hours to support annotators.
- Provide written quality assessments and actionable feedback to annotators.
- Audit datasets for linguistic accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
