Requirements
- 8–10+ years of experience in RAN engineering and operations in a production 24x7 environment.
- Direct ownership of live LTE/5G RAN infrastructure.
- Deep 3GPP RAN expertise: TS 38.300, NR/LTE-NTN procedures, NB-IoT/LTE-M/5G-NR air interfaces, UE random-access procedures, and RRC state machines.
- Extensive understanding of vRAN/ORAN architecture (7-2x split, RU/DU/CU, eCPRI/CPRI).
- Proven ability to diagnose SINR anomalies, beam coverage gaps, preamble failures, and hardware faults.
- RF and timing domain knowledge: GNSS, PTP, SyncE, and NTN-specific timing compensation.
- Experience with production observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana and OSS alarm integration.
- Proficiency with packet capture and trace analysis (Wireshark) for L2/L3 call flows.
- Kubernetes operational literacy for pod health monitoring.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and MNO-facing summaries.
Responsibilities
- Own 24x7 NTN RAN health across Skylo's production network, including gNodeB/eNodeB status, attach/access success rates, and RF integrity.
- Monitor and triage RAN alarms using OSS dashboards and telemetry, distinguishing transient fluctuations from systemic degradation.
- Execute and maintain RAN-domain runbooks for fault recovery and interference mitigation.
- Serve as the L3 escalation authority for RAN-domain incidents, leading technical investigations and driving resolutions.
- Perform end-to-end root cause analysis, document causal chains, and deliver systemic action items.
- Define and refine RAN KPIs, ensuring they are calibrated to NTN behavior.
- Partner with RAN Product Engineering to ensure new software releases meet operational readiness standards.
- Mentor Senior NREs in RAN domain depth, KPI interpretation, and escalation judgment.
