Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health or public policy, science, political science, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in government relations, advocacy, or health/science policy.
  • Strong understanding of federal legislative and regulatory processes (e.g., U.S. Congress, HHS, FDA, NIH).
  • Excellent research and analysis skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Superb verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with physicians, researchers, and policymakers.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to travel to the metro DC area for in-person events.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze federal legislative, regulatory, and agency developments.
  • Translate complex policy information into clear summaries, reports, and communications.
  • Lead Government Relations communications, including newsletters and web content.
  • Support engagement with congressional offices, federal agencies, and partner organizations.
  • Prepare briefing materials, testimony, and talking points for advocacy efforts.
  • Serve as staff liaison for the Government Relations Committee.
  • Manage department workflows, project timelines, and internal reporting.
