Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with evidence of operating at a principal level.
- Expert-level proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of Node.js runtime, event loop, and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and eventual consistency.
- Hands-on experience with caching layers like Redis and messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or SNS.
- Deep experience in at least one primary cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB).
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and lifecycle of critical systems from design through production.
- Design and build high-scale, distributed services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Lead the decomposition of monolithic systems into well-bounded, loosely coupled microservices.
- Evaluate and introduce frameworks, tools, and engineering practices to guide technical strategy.
- Design robust, versioned, and well-governed APIs (REST/GraphQL/event-driven).
- Drive best practices for observability, logging, monitoring, and incident management.
- Set benchmarks for code quality, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to elevate team capability.
- Partner with product, business, and executive stakeholders to align technical strategy with business outcomes.
