Requirements

Extensive knowledge of major sports, including teams, players, stats, history, and economics.
Strong knowledge of modern digital journalism, social media, and the mobile landscape.
Ability to work under pressure and make immediate editorial judgments in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to write news, headlines, and feature content on deadline with high accuracy.
Available and prepared to work weekends and evenings.
Previous experience as a news editor and/or writer in a post-secondary or professional newsroom is preferred.
Degree in journalism is preferred.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor breaking news and trending content across the sports landscape.
Write informative and engaging breaking news articles, headlines, and captions.
Provide live coverage of games and key events throughout the sports calendar.
Produce engaging push alert copy for breaking news, video, and featured analysis.
Curate news feeds with a mix of articles, video, and social media content.
