Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Perl development in enterprise or legacy environments.
- Experience maintaining, refactoring, and modernizing large existing codebases.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, clean code, and maintainable application architecture.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and improving application stability.
- Good knowledge of Git and version control best practices.
- Experience working with text processing, file parsing, CSV handling, and character encodings (UTF-8, ISO-8859-1, Windows-1252).
- Understanding of data validation, error handling, and robust application design.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Fluent English.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, enhance, and refactor a large legacy Perl codebase.
- Implement new features while ensuring compatibility with existing solutions.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, software defects, and recurring system failures.
- Improve application stability, robustness, and maintainability through code optimization and refactoring.
- Standardize data handling, character encodings, and file processing to eliminate inconsistencies.
- Improve the quality and consistency of CSV and other data processing mechanisms.
- Support the migration of legacy code into a structured Git-based development workflow.
- Assist in resolving version control inconsistencies and improving deployment readiness.
- Analyze existing architecture and recommend improvements to coding standards and software design.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to improve development processes and reduce operational risks.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
