Requirements
- 8+ years of related experience in Mortgage Industry, Residential Mortgage Loan underwriting or similar field
- High school diploma
- Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage industry in Correspondent or Retail Lending
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
- Advanced knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA Guidelines
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office products
- Intermediate knowledge of Encompass
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills
- DE or SAR certification
Responsibilities
- Underwrite Jumbo and High-Net Worth loans by reviewing credit, capacity and collateral characteristics.
- Review and clear underwriting conditions on Jumbo and High-Net Worth loans in compliance with guidelines and overlays.
- Manage individual pipeline on a daily basis by completing various underwriting tasks within established turn times.
- Identify document deficiencies and request additional information from Clients.
- Analyze complex income sources, credit reports, asset statements, and complex appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with investor, federal, and internal guidelines.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and investor overlays.
- Navigate and interpret all Agency, Non-Agency and company guidelines.
- Assist other department personnel in interpreting underwriting guidelines and completing tasks.
- Contact clients to provide updates and clarification on outstanding conditions and deficiencies.
