Requirements
- Expert knowledge and understanding, able to expand beyond provided material
- Careful listening and clear explanations in spoken English
- Ability to adapt explanation style to match audience level
- Expert and eloquent spoken English, with clear accent for non-native speakers
- Ability to quickly understand complex questions and clarify when needed
- Personable, passionate, and professional demeanor
- Ability to build rapport and create a safe space for learners
- Comfortable looking at code, understanding it, and identifying bugs/improvements under pressure (live debugging)
- Extensive real-world industry experience (to teach senior engineers with confidence)
- Experience teaching groups of software engineers or mentoring developers (formal or informal) is a bonus
- Expertise in Advanced PostgreSQL
- Expertise in React Native
- Expertise in Leadership, Communication and Management (in software teams context)
- Expertise in two or more of: Common languages/frameworks (e.g. Go, React, Kotlin, Java etc), Platforms, Tools and/or Databases (e.g. AWS, Docker, PostgreSQL), Test-Driven Development, REST API Design, Leadership, Communication and Management (in software teams context)
Responsibilities
- Lead targeted micro-workshops for small groups of software engineers
- Bring expertise and enthusiasm for software engineering
- Ensure learners leave with a deep understanding of the topic
- Ensure learners leave with the ability to apply new skills
- Teach senior as well as junior engineers
- Answer interesting questions tangential to the material
- Live-debug learners' code
