Requirements:
  • 5+ years in a game design role, ideally spanning systems and gameplay.
  • Strong scripting or programming skills in Unreal Engine (Blueprints, C++, or equivalent), with the ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Proven track record of prototyping, iterating, and shipping game features.
  • Experience designing for mobile free-to-play games.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine, in either a professional or serious hobbyist context.
  • Be open to using new technology, including AI to assist with ideation, iteration, testing, and more.
  • Thoughtful communicator who collaborates well across disciplines and brings the team along for the design journey.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and unblocking challenges to move the game forward.
Responsibilities:
  • Rapidly prototyping core gameplay systems such as combat, player movement, and interactions using C++ or Blueprints in Unreal.
  • Help define system-level architecture and modular logic that supports procedural content and scalable gameplay.
  • Prototype levels and layouts to evaluate game feel, mechanics, and flow.
  • Design meta, economy, and monetization systems to support long-term player engagement.
  • Own features end-to-end: specs, implementation support, playtesting, balancing, bug fixing, and polish.
  • Collaborate directly with the founder to align on creative vision and help bring a unified player experience to life with the team.
  • Uphold a high standard for usability and game quality; proactively improve both moment-to-moment and long-term gameplay.
