Requirements:
  • A proven leader with substantial experience managing complex, litigated, and large loss homeowners claims.
  • Adept at identifying risk exposure, negotiating high-stakes settlements, and managing litigation strategy in partnership with internal and external counsel.
  • Well-versed in extra-contractual exposure, bad faith allegations, and litigation involving regulatory scrutiny or reputational risk.
  • Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information while maintaining sound judgment and consistency.
  • A people-first leader who develops adjusters technically and professionally, creating clear paths for growth and accountability.
  • Experience leading distributed teams with a strong track record of coaching, performance management, and engagement.
  • Highly skilled in coverage analysis, damage evaluation (including structural and contents), litigation handling, and claims resolution.
  • Familiar with litigation management systems, estimating platforms (e.g., Xactimate), and digital claims tools.
  • Licensed adjuster with multi-state experience; industry designations (AIC, SCLA, CPCU) preferred.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator who can align claims handling with broader business strategy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of adjusters handling high-severity, complex, and litigated homeowners claims nationwide.
  • Oversee technical quality and claim strategy, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of each case.
  • Drive large loss and litigation best practices, including vendor management, legal coordination, and strategic reserve setting.
  • Partner with internal legal and product teams to refine coverage interpretations and defense strategies.
  • Monitor for and proactively manage potential extra-contractual exposure, ensuring adherence to claim-handling standards that mitigate risk of bad faith or regulatory action.
  • Create development plans and training for your team, with a focus on litigation tactics, negotiation, and complex damage evaluation.
  • Analyze team performance using data and provide feedback that drives improvement in indemnity, expense, and cycle time.
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to modernize and improve the claims experience.
  • Champion Branch’s mission and values (Roots) through every member interaction, especially during their most difficult moments.
