Requirements:
  • 8+ years of related experience in cost and manufacturing accounting
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory control procedures and systems
  • Experience working for a manufacturer/CPG
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve inventory control objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic macros
  • ERP experience, Netsuite is preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Optimize inventory levels and accuracy by developing and implementing robust inventory control procedures and strategies. Use data-driven analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the monthly cost accounting close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliation of sub-ledgers to the general ledger, account analysis, and balance reviews to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct monthly COGS variance and margin analysis, identifying key drivers and working closely with FP&A to align actual performance with forecasts and strategic goals.
  • Oversee monthly Excess & Obsolete (E&O) inventory reviews in partnership with Operations and Supply Chain. Analyze aging and slow-moving inventory and book appropriate reserves in accordance with company policy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain teams including Purchasing, Sourcing, Quality Assurance, and Logistics to manage inventory effectively and support operational goals.
  • Own relationships with co-manufacturers and 3PL warehouses, ensuring inventory accuracy, yield analysis, and adherence to operational standards for efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot EDI connections to ensure seamless data flow between systems. Monitor workflows to confirm proper handling of inventory transactions and adjustments.
  • Establish and manage a cycle counting program to maintain inventory accuracy, identify discrepancies, and support overall inventory integrity.
  • Lead and develop the Inventory Control team, setting clear goals, optimizing team structure, and ensuring alignment with broader department and company objectives.
  • Coach, mentor, and support career development of team members through ongoing feedback, training opportunities, and performance development planning.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, contributing to departmental and organizational success.
