Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience performing simulations using TARA (MISO ERIS/NRIS, PJM GD), Powerworld, and/or PSCAD
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission and Interconnection
  • Strong knowledge of generation interconnection studies and the queue application process.
  • Ability to prioritize requests and resolve multiple issues across various projects under demanding schedule constraints.
  • Thorough knowledge of FERC transmission tariffs, interconnection processes, and NERC standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel if required.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Development and other teams on market and site selection for utility-scale wind, solar, and storage facilities, focusing primarily on the Eastern Interconnection (MISO, PJM, SPP, SERC).
  • Support the interconnection process for projects, including assessing interconnection options, filing necessary applications, evaluating utility technical studies, and developing interconnection strategies.
  • Develop a thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection alternatives for various projects, considering costs, benefits, and challenges.
  • Provide assessments of transmission market dynamics, such as LMPs, nodal basis risks, and congestion risks.
  • Perform power flow, MISO ERIS/NRIS, and PJM GD analysis to provide actionable information for internal stakeholders.
  • Scope, request, review, and verify interconnection studies and other analyses from transmission providers and consultants.
  • Track transmission projects and overall transmission development within various markets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of regional transmission systems and providers.
  • Duplicate studies performed by transmission providers for QA/QC, often working on short timelines with incomplete information.
