Requirements:
- Proven experience writing or editing technical documentation for software products
- Strong understanding of how software is built and used — especially from a developer or technical user perspective
- Ability to read and understand source code, APIs, and developer workflows
- Fluent in English, with at least intermediate German comprehension and communication skills (B1 or higher)
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Experience working with Markdown, Git, and version-controlled documentation workflows (e.g. Docusaurus, ReadTheDocs, Confluence, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and clarity
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and across time zones
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and structure technical documentation for software developed in-house.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to gather accurate technical information
- Translate complex concepts into clear, accessible documentation for both technical and semi-technical readers
- Review and improve existing documentation, including legacy materials
- Translate or adapt German documentation into clear, professional English
- Ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and terminology
- Continuously review and improve documentation based on updates, feedback, or evolving needs
- Organize content to make it easy to navigate and search, ensuring a logical flow and good information architecture

- Research technology innovations to deepen your tech. knowledge in your vertical’s topic area
- Connect to users and research to deepen your knowledge of users in your vertical’s topic area
- Keep up with market changes that could impact the delivery or success of a product, for example, tech. version updates and competing titles
- Function as a reader advocate for your book from a technical point of view
- Query the author if any part of the code isn’t clear
- Provide a technical health check for the portfolio director to facilitate accurate planning and time allocation
- Carry out user research and market analysis to elevate your work
- Work with technical reviewers to ensure technical accuracy of the content and code. Use this to build up an understanding of the book and its audience
- Own the technical quality of a product: sign off the technical aspects of a product for production; advise on whether a product is suitable for cancellation
