Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • 1-3 years of design and/or construction experience with HVAC systems including but not limited to Air, Water and Ground Source Heat Pumps, traditional rooftop units and split systems, VRF and ERV/HRV systems, kitchen hoods, exhaust fans, and variable frequency drives.
  • Proven understanding of HVAC building operations and thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge and practical application experience of ASHRAE Standards, the International Mechanical Code, and the International Energy Conservation Code.
  • Robust organizational skills including attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and continuously with non-engineers, both internally within Budderfly and externally, in person and virtual.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; adept at learning new software programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Review equipment survey documents and understand the best HVAC solutions for implementation and customer satisfaction with a focus on energy reduction.
  • Assist HIG Mechanical Engineers in preparation of scopes and bills of material (BOMs) for new and existing clients.
  • Creation of HVAC scopes and bills of material (BOMs) for new and existing clients.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for HVAC technologies/solutions including but not limited to rooftop units, split systems, variable refrigerant flow systems, conventional thermostats, dehumidification, kitchen exhaust/make-up air systems, variable frequency drives, and BAS controls.
  • Review submittals and equipment documentation to gather existing unit data and verify proposed equipment meets existing unit criteria.
  • Review as-built conditions on site (in person or via the HVAC Survey), analyze potential issues and verify installation to ensure compliance with engineering design and for potential inspection issues.
  • Understand, interpret, and evaluate construction documents including site plans, floor plans, details, sections, and equipment schedules with an eye towards the implementation of energy reduction solutions.
  • Review implementation checkout documents to diagnose problematic or inconsistent installations.
  • Support the process of maximizing utility-provided incentives based on HVAC solutions for customer locations.
