Requirements:
- At least six (6) years of federal court civil litigation or comparable experience post law school.
- Membership in good standing of at least one state bar in the United States, preferably in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, or Washington, D.C.
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Demonstrated experience in litigating civil rights cases and working with community organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Litigate cases in state and federal courts across SPLC’s five focus states.
- Lead advocacy and litigation efforts, including legal research and drafting documents.
- Identify and develop new cases and strategies to advance voting rights.
- Mentor and train legal staff and interns.
- Participate in relevant task forces and coalitions.
- Collaborate with other SPLC departments to implement impact area goals.
- Represent DVR on relevant task forces.
- Engage in public speaking to articulate SPLC’s policies on voting rights.
