Requirements
- Have 5+ years of hands-on machine learning engineering experience putting complex models into production at scale.
- Have experience building, optimizing, and scaling production data pipelines using Databricks.
- Have a proven track record taking deep learning and ensemble architectures from training through optimization to production deployment.
- Have strong Python and/or Scala skills, with an emphasis on readable, modular, maintainable systems code.
- Have hands-on experience with microservice backends.
- Have experience with distributed compute such as Ray or Spark.
- Have experience with containers, including Kubernetes.
- Prior large-scale recommendation systems experience is a bonus.
- Experience setting up feature stores or model observability tools is a bonus.
- Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship product ML capabilities, including send-time and frequency optimization, recommendation engines, and campaign personalization.
- Own the model lifecycle from EDA and feature engineering through distributed training, production deployment, latency monitoring, and online experimentation.
- Build and scale data pipelines and serving architectures using Databricks, Spark, AWS, Ray, and Kubernetes.
- Partner with Backend and Platform teams to improve feature serving and overall data architecture.
- Establish engineering standards across the team.
- Mentor engineers and help set the technical direction for machine learning at Iterable.
- Build, evaluate, and integrate models that add intelligence to the core product.
- Benchmark and improve the multi-armed bandit implementation.
