Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of software development experience.
- Experience developing applications with Java and related technology ecosystems.
- Experience with Java Web Services, Spring Boot, or Java EE.
- Familiarity with software development and DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Experience supporting application development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ability to contribute to system design and translate requirements into working software solutions.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional fluency in English.
- U.S. citizenship is required; DHS HQ Entry on Duty approval is required before starting, and the selected candidate must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications using Java and related technologies.
- Provide technical support and guidance through conceptualization, development, and implementation.
- Work with users and stakeholders to define system scope, objectives, and technical requirements.
- Contribute to application architecture, system design, and technical design decisions.
- Support new development, system reengineering, and enhancements to existing applications.
- Perform quality assurance, testing, test-driven development, and database programming.
- Review system modifications for compatibility across applications and environments.
- Use Git, Jenkins, Maven, Jira, and cloud-based development environments to support Agile and DevOps delivery.
- Support automated code scanning, automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
- Interface with the customer on technical requirements and design decisions.
