Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience in Java development; enterprise cloud software experience is strongly preferred.
- Bring hands-on operational experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
- Have experience with incident management and root cause analysis.
- Write clean, testable, readable, and maintainable code in a collaborative team setting.
- Have hands-on experience with open-source technologies such as Spring, MySQL, Hibernate, Solr, Maven, Git, Tomcat, Linux, AWS, Vagrant, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Have 3+ years of experience with relational databases and expert-level SQL skills.
- Be proficient in scripting languages such as Shell, Bash, Ansible, Python, Go, or Ruby.
- Demonstrate incident management and leadership ability, with effective communication across individual contributors and executives.
- Have a proven record of mentoring and improving a team.
Responsibilities
- Build cloud infrastructure from scratch using software development best practices.
- Ensure the platform meets the scalability and reliability needs of its customers.
- Lead incident triage and mitigation, including periodic on-call duty for escalations.
- Develop tools and automation to reduce manual work and issue resolution times.
- Diagnose production problems across systems and determine their root causes.
- Partner with engineering teams on complex problems and guide development decisions for systems operating at scale.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and drive operational efficiency and platform scalability initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and QA to deliver solutions.
- Work across the technology stack, primarily on backend development, with opportunities in frontend and infrastructure.
- Mentor team members and communicate problems clearly during outage hand-offs.
