Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience in software test automation.
- Have at least 3 years of experience writing automated test code using Go, Python, or a similar programming language.
- Bring strong programming and automation skills; this is a code-focused SDET role rather than a manual testing or record-and-playback position.
- Have hands-on experience with REST API test automation, including using API calls to create, modify, and validate system state.
- Have working knowledge of at least two industrial or IIoT protocols, such as OPC-UA, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, DNP3, or MQTT.
- Have practical experience with Linux, Docker, and continuous integration pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
- Be able to analyze pipeline logs and troubleshoot failures.
- Bring analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to investigate complex system behavior.
- Be able to collaborate effectively with developers and distributed engineering teams.
- Device or protocol simulator development, or hardware-in-the-loop testing experience, is a plus.
- C++ or Go development experience, Playwright or similar UI automation experience, and familiarity with Jira and Xray are a plus.
- PLC concepts, including the distinction between memory tags and symbolic tags, and performance, load, or soak testing experience are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automated test coverage for industrial connectors using protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and DNP3.
- Develop end-to-end tests that interact with the platform through REST APIs and integrate them into GitLab pipelines.
- Design and implement device and protocol simulators for testing without physical industrial equipment.
- Organize development and regression test suites, and run regression tests on LTS builds and on an agreed schedule.
- Validate software upgrades, backward compatibility, system behavior under load, and long-duration stability through soak testing.
- Investigate test failures using pipeline logs, document findings with timestamps, and distinguish product defects from infrastructure issues.
- Maintain test cases and execution results in Jira and Xray, tracking coverage by component.
- Review and clarify acceptance criteria at the start of development tasks to ensure requirements are testable.
- Collaborate with industrial developers and distributed engineering teams to improve testability and product reliability.
