Job Details

Conduct discovery independently, including interviews, usability testing, and analysis of behavioral data.
Move quickly from research synthesis to a working prototype.
Design human checkpoints into workflows.
Be comfortable defending evidence-based design decisions when stakeholders disagree.
Use AI daily for research, synthesis, and prototyping, and evaluate the quality of its output.
Work directly alongside engineers through the build.
No minimum years of experience are required; candidates are evaluated on their work.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
A public portfolio or case studies are nice to have.
Experience designing AI-native workflows, consulting or agency experience with concurrent clients, and lightweight front-end implementation are nice to have.

Interview people doing the work and observe their workflows over screen-share on client engagements.
Conduct discovery with users of Ajaia’s products.
Synthesize findings into user needs, distinguishing them from requests and documenting the supporting evidence.
Design user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes that engineers can build from.
Design human sign-off checkpoints into workflows.
Test designs with real users before production code is written.
Challenge stakeholder feature lists when research evidence points elsewhere and explain the reasoning.
Maintain design standards across Ajaia’s product suite.
Use AI tools to research, synthesize findings, and prototype, evaluating when outputs need manual work.
Hand off designs in a build-ready state and stay involved during implementation to catch deviations from the design intent.
