Requirements
- Have 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or AI.
- Bring hands-on Microsoft Azure delivery experience and client-facing consulting experience.
- Have experience leading or mentoring consultants, engineers, or contractors, including setting expectations, reviewing work, and addressing delivery concerns.
- Demonstrate strong SQL and practical Python skills.
- Have hands-on experience with at least two of Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure SQL.
- Have experience implementing AI integrations and validating their behavior.
- Understand data quality, access controls, and secure handling of client information.
- Understand data lakes, warehouses, pipelines, analytics, and how prepared datasets support Power BI and AI applications.
- Have experience with Git, testing, release practices, technical documentation, and reviewing team members’ work.
- Communicate clearly with clients, estimate work soundly, and balance personal delivery commitments with team leadership responsibilities.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: experience leading mixed employee and contract teams, or experience with Spark, event-driven data integration, AI evaluation, or production machine learning solutions.
- Preferred: exposure to Elastic, Tines, infrastructure as code, delivery automation, or relevant Microsoft certifications.
Responsibilities
- Lead client discovery, clarify requirements and acceptance criteria, estimate assigned work, and explain delivery options and tradeoffs.
- Build and improve data pipelines and platforms using SQL, Python, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, and Databricks.
- Integrate Azure AI and Azure OpenAI capabilities into client solutions and test output quality, data handling, and failure behavior.
- Apply access controls, data quality checks, approved security practices, version control, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Own assigned work through implementation, validation, documentation, and handoff, coordinating dates, effort, dependencies, and acceptance.
- Set expectations for consultants and contractors, confirm owners and deliverables, and follow up on commitments.
- Coach team members through regular check-ins, specific feedback, development actions, and progress reviews.
- Review code, configurations, data pipelines, AI outputs, and documentation against team standards and confirm findings are addressed.
- Coordinate workload and capacity with the Delivery Manager and project managers, escalating skill gaps, conflicts, risks, and blockers.
- Contribute to cross-training, knowledge sharing, reusable methods and templates, candidate assessments, and weekly team delivery reporting.
