Requirements
- Have experience in a research environment, publishing, or another relevant industry.
- Hold a postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area.
- A PhD, MD, or similar level is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong critical assessment and problem-solving abilities.
- Be highly organized and efficient.
- Communicate and present effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work under tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Set priorities and work independently.
- Be flexible to work across time zones.
- Occasional national and international travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex and nuanced editorial queries.
- Support PLOS teams, editorial board members, and third-party editorial teams in upholding scientific rigor and editorial integrity.
- Evaluate submissions and make decisions based on reviewers’ comments.
- Participate in developing editorial policy and improving the visibility and reputation of PLOS journals.
- Handle publication ethics queries.
- Build relationships with members of the academic community.
- Contribute to developmental and promotional activities for PLOS journals.
