Requirements
- Have 2 or more years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Have solid programming skills in at least one language and be willing to learn others.
- Be comfortable working across the stack, from cloud services to device-level concerns.
- Have experience building or running services on AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Have a grounding in unit, integration, and contract testing.
- Have experience with Git workflows, CI/CD, and Docker.
- Communicate clearly and confidently in written and spoken English.
- Work a shifted pattern to align with UK working hours as much as possible.
- Java/Kotlin, Go, or C experience is a nice-to-have.
- Android development or embedded Linux experience is a nice-to-have.
- Familiarity with NFC, smartcards, or EMV contactless is a nice-to-have.
- Terraform/Terragrunt, gRPC, Protobuf, security-sensitive environments, or hardware-in-the-loop testing experience is a nice-to-have.
Responsibilities
- Integrate and maintain Justride SDKs on embedded and hardware-enabled devices, including fare media validation, NFC and contactless EMV tap handling, and barcode payloads.
- Build and maintain features in the Android point of sale app, including integrations with card readers, NFC readers, and printers.
- Build and maintain on-device services and integration proxies connecting to onboard vehicle systems such as GPS and AVL.
- Contribute to cloud services that support devices, including remote configuration and software updates.
- Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews, CI pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and releases.
- Troubleshoot issues across devices and cloud services using logs, metrics, and lab hardware.
- Participate in feature refinement and technical discussions, and help shape solutions.
- Take ownership of assigned work and support team outcomes.
