Requirements
- University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a life sciences-related field such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursery, Biology, or Chemistry.
- A Master's degree is a plus.
- 4+ years of relevant translation/localization experience specializing in Life Sciences.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.
- 5+ years of review experience.
- Fluent written and spoken English and native fluency in Simplified Chinese.
- Thorough understanding of the localization process and Simplified Chinese life sciences and clinical research regulations.
- User experience with CAT tools such as XTM and SDL Studio, and query management tools such as JIRA and Verifika.
- Experience with Windows and Office applications.
- Understanding of Machine Translation Post-Editing and willingness to work with AI tools.
- Knowledge of terminology in two or more subject matters and ability to coordinate internal and external translators.
Responsibilities
- Perform lead linguist and subject-matter expert functions for assigned accounts.
- Copy-edit and translate project content as required.
- Take ownership of Simplified Chinese deliveries translated by linguists.
- Prepare and maintain glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.
- Manage project queries and resolve terminology and language questions.
- Coordinate, test, and qualify freelancers and vendors; monitor their performance.
- Train freelancers and recommend Simplified Chinese Life Sciences resources to Squads.
- Conduct monthly capacity planning to ensure adequate Life Sciences resources.
- Work with Quality and Squads on linguistic quality assessments, arbitration, escalations, and root-cause analyses.
- Respond to client inquiries and attend client calls as needed.
