Requirements
- An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving substantial software development, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 15 years of experience designing, building, and evolving large-scale software systems.
- A record of sustained impact across multiple teams or organizations.
- Experience operating at Principal Engineer level or equivalent, owning company-critical challenges and influencing long-term engineering strategy.
- Experience developing and scaling consumer-facing products, with understanding of user experience, system performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Broad technical expertise across multiple engineering domains, including several of frontend development, mobile systems, search, databases, storage systems, concurrency, and distributed systems.
- Production experience applying modern machine learning, LLM-based APIs, and agentic frameworks, including evaluating benefits, limitations, costs, and risks.
- Strong architectural and system-design capabilities, including establishing technical direction and building foundational platforms adopted across teams.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts and influence senior engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.
- Commitment to responsible AI adoption, including protecting sensitive data, validating AI-generated outputs, maintaining quality standards, and using approved tools thoughtfully.
- Preferred: Experience defining and scaling company-wide platforms, shared services, or architectural standards.
- Preferred: Experience introducing emerging technologies, particularly AI and machine learning, into core products or engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Own complex, company-critical technical initiatives across multiple teams and organizations.
- Define long-term technical strategies, architectural direction, and implementation roadmaps with engineering, product, and business leaders.
- Identify and solve high-impact technical and product challenges, influencing how solutions are developed, deployed, and maintained.
- Design and implement critical system components, develop prototypes, review code, and address foundational engineering challenges.
- Architect, evolve, and scale foundational platforms and systems across frontend and backend technologies.
- Drive alignment across organizational boundaries, influence technical roadmaps, and improve engineering processes and standards.
- Apply machine learning, LLM APIs, and agentic frameworks to production systems while balancing quality, performance, cost, security, and risk.
- Advise senior leaders on technical trade-offs, investments, and product priorities.
