Job Details

PhD in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related field.
Hands-on structural experience building and validating models.
Deep expertise in at least one of X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, NMR/solution methods, or computational structural biology.
Working fluency across the other structural biology methods.
Ability to compute contacts, superpositions, symmetry mates, map values, and geometry from structural data files without a GUI.
Daily use of Claude, Cursor, or similar AI agents, with the judgment to identify scientifically unsound reasoning.
Ability to calibrate confidence and communicate uncertainty rather than defaulting to binary calls.
Bonus: structural virology or antibody–antigen structural work, including viral glycoproteins, epitope mapping, or structural interpretation of escape.
Bonus: RNA structural biology or protein–RNA interaction analysis.

Define expert reasoning for structural questions and write gold-standard answers with supporting rationale.
Design realistic benchmark scenarios spanning the structural biology workflow.
Curate datasets across structural and experimental modalities.
Build Python analysis pipelines to compute verifiable ground truth from files.
Partner with software engineers to translate scientific judgment into workflows.
Test whether agents distinguish structural evidence from artifacts and over-interpretation.
Adjudicate ambiguous cases and identify additional data that could resolve them.
Evaluate agents' choices of structural representation and comparison methods.
Interrogate agent reasoning, identify errors, and explain what evidence would change a conclusion.
Score agent confidence, rewarding explicit uncertainty on ambiguous structures.
