Requirements
- Design and own distributed systems where correctness matters, with strong understanding of asynchronous processing and failure modes.
- Have strong Go skills, or deep production experience in Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C# and be ready to ship Go within the first weeks.
- Bring in-depth PostgreSQL experience, including schema design, query plans, locking, isolation levels, live-system migrations, and multi-tenant data.
- Have end-to-end cloud ownership and working knowledge of AWS or GCP, including IAM, networking, managed databases, queues, and storage.
- Be able to read and change Terraform and debug production using traces and logs.
- Use coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor every day, and be able to describe how you specify work and review agent output.
- Have a track record of delivering large, technically difficult projects end to end and helping other engineers improve.
- Typically have 8+ years building backend systems.
- Write clearly and concisely in a remote company that makes decisions in documents and asynchronous threads.
- Understand security fundamentals for sensitive data, including encryption in transit and at rest, key handling, personal-data minimization, and least-privilege access.
Responsibilities
- Design and build core parts of the transaction platform.
- Build for correctness under failure, with isolation and auditability for a regulated product.
- Scale the platform as transaction volume and institutions per node grow while keeping latency predictable and the database healthy.
- Write design documents and review other engineers’ designs and code.
- Use AI agents and improve the specifications, context, and review practices that make agent-written code safe to ship.
- Work with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams to turn regulatory and customer needs into software.
- Own production delivery, including tracing, alerts, and incident follow-ups.
- Mentor engineers and participate in an on-call rotation.
