Job Details

Bring strong software engineering fundamentals and comfort operating lower in the stack.
Have experience with complex systems where performance, reliability, and cost matter.
Be able to work through ambiguity and navigate limited signals and multiple possible causes.
Communicate and collaborate in English well enough for deep technical conversations.
Be proficient in Java or have meaningful experience in an adjacent language such as C, C++, C#, or Rust.
Have a track record of shipping in environments where engineering decisions have downstream consequences.
Hardware experience or systems experience closely coupled to hardware behavior is a bonus.
Exposure to Rust or interest in developing Rust skills is a bonus.
Breadth across different systems and project types is a bonus.

Build and evolve a storage platform operating at cloud scale with exabyte-level storage and durability constraints.
Optimize for hard drive and hardware characteristics to improve throughput and reduce error rates across hardware failure modes.
Troubleshoot ambiguous, symptom-driven problems with limited signal and unclear root causes.
Contribute to architectural upgrades supporting the platform over the next 5–10 years, including emerging storage technologies.
Take ownership of stack components where general-purpose tools are no longer a good fit.
Improve hardware utilization and efficiency as the business grows and scale increases.
Collaborate with a distributed team, coordinating and communicating across time zones.
