Job Details

Have 5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of a monthly close.
Be comfortable overseeing or reviewing the work of bookkeepers or junior staff.
Have a solid US GAAP foundation and strong month-end close discipline.
Have US multi-state sales tax compliance experience, including nexus, registrations, filings, and marketplace facilitator reconciliation.
Have hands-on experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections and aging management.
Have some US partnership income tax experience, including comfort with K-1s and other applicable form filings and supporting the process alongside an external tax firm.
Have hands-on QuickBooks experience; QuickBooks Online is preferred.
Be comfortable reconciling e-commerce and marketplace data from Shopify, Amazon, and TikTok Shop to the books.
Actively use AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude in accounting work and verify their output before relying on it.
Communicate accounting or tax issues clearly to non-accountants.
Preferred: CPA or equivalent certification; consumer products, home goods, e-commerce/retail, or big-box wholesale experience; familiarity with Avalara or TaxJar; experience overseeing bookkeeping or outsourced accounting partners; Power BI, SQL, or advanced Excel; international VAT/GST and multi-currency exposure; and experience building forecasts and budgets.

Build accounting processes, controls, a close calendar, and the structure needed for the accounting function to scale.
Own the monthly close end to end and deliver accurate results on time.
Oversee and review bookkeepers' journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, and resolve escalated questions.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments, customer collections, and aging.
Maintain data integrity between Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, retail portals, and the general ledger.
Develop and maintain inventory accounting processes, including landed cost, cost layers, and inventory roll-forward.
Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting policies, prepare financial statements and supporting schedules, and support audit/review readiness.
Own US multi-state sales tax compliance, marketplace facilitator tax reconciliations, and sales tax automation tooling.
Manage Canadian GST/HST and EU VAT compliance, and support partnership tax filings and partner-level reporting with the external tax firm.
Support budgets, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, and daily and weekly cash flow reporting.
