Requirements
- Hold an MSc or PhD in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Have 10+ years of practical experience applying statistical and earth observation techniques to agricultural applications.
- Be proficient in Python, R, and Google Earth Engine.
- Have knowledge of agricultural systems and supply chains in tropical and subtropical regions.
- Have experience with supply-chain modelling approaches such as optimisation, spatial allocation, entity matching, or network analysis across heterogeneous datasets.
- Have strong geospatial data engineering skills, including spatial databases such as PostGIS and GDAL/geopandas or equivalent.
- Be experienced in handling large raster and vector datasets.
- Have experience building reproducible, version-controlled analytical pipelines using Git; Docker or other containerisation is a plus.
- Document methodologies rigorously, including data provenance, assumptions, limitations, and licensing.
- Work independently in a remote setting and have strong communication skills and full professional proficiency in English.
- Familiarity with agri-commodity sectors, supply-chain traceability, relevant frameworks such as EUDR and DCF/NDPE, model validation, uncertainty, and production statistics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop models and datasets for production area assessment and sourcing area analysis across multiple commodities and origin countries.
- Leverage in-situ farm plot datasets to train and validate models.
- Adapt existing machine learning models to local agricultural contexts.
- Create scalable and reproducible methodologies across geographies and commodities.
- Produce a methodology and codebase.
- Organise and deliver all source files.
- Document operating workflows, methodologies, sources, retrieval details, and licensing.
