Requirements

Have 2+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Have experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
Be proficient in Python or Kotlin.
Be familiar with distributed systems building blocks.
Be familiar with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Write high-quality code that is clear and understandable to others.
Navigate a large codebase and debug other engineers' code.
Provide feedback to engineers through code reviews.
Translate a problem or business scenario into a solution involving multiple software components.
Write clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
Proactively seek feedback and take ownership of professional growth.
Use strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with the global engineering team.

Responsibilities

Break larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases.
Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
Contribute to ideation, articulate technical constraints, and help weigh risks and trade-offs.
Create and monitor metrics for the operation and availability of team artifacts.
Escalate operational issues and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
Participate in growth and development activities, including the interview process.
Develop software systems that support a seamless checkout experience for Affirm Card users.
