Requirements
- Have experience designing consumer mobile apps with a freemium or subscription model.
- Understand how activation, conversion, and retention influence one another.
- Have worked on onboarding or retention and be able to show shipped work, decisions, approach, and results.
- Be comfortable setting up A/B tests, analyzing results, and using findings to change designs.
- Be highly skilled in Figma, including prototyping, components, and design systems.
- Have strong interaction and visual design skills for small-screen experiences.
- Be comfortable forming a point of view, testing assumptions, and bringing ideas to the team.
- Be open to challenging ideas and receiving feedback on your own work.
- Use AI tools in the design process to explore ideas, prototype, and draft copy while critically evaluating the output.
- Bonus: Have experience with gamification, such as streaks, rewards, or habit-building mechanics.
- Bonus: Have experience personalizing flows for different user segments.
- Bonus: Have run lightweight user or competitor research, or facilitated ideation sessions with PMs and engineers.
Responsibilities
- Own Growth product design from discovery through launch, including exploring problems, prototyping, designing UI in Figma, handing work to engineering, and iterating after launch.
- Turn experiment hypotheses into designs and review A/B test results with the PM, engineers, and Growth Analytics.
- Improve onboarding by identifying where and why users drop off while preserving parts of the experience that work well.
- Shape the app’s first-week experience, including gamification features that encourage users to return.
- Work with the PM to prioritize opportunities with potential to improve retention.
- Maintain design quality and consistency with the design system while collaborating with the wider design team.
