Requirements
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
- Have at least 3 years of data migration experience in a healthcare environment.
- Have hands-on experience manipulating or migrating data across healthcare systems such as RIS, PACS, HIS, and EMR platforms.
- Understand ETL processes, relational database structures, SQL, and relevant healthcare data standards.
- Be proficient in MS SQL Server and Transact-SQL, including triggers, functions, stored procedures, database schema design, SQL Agent jobs, and ad hoc queries.
- Have experience with delimited text files, spreadsheets, SQL databases, Word documents, image files, and PDFs.
- Have programming experience in C# for Windows desktop applications, Python, or a comparable language for developing or improving migration tools.
- Be familiar with Linux operating systems and scripting tools or languages such as Python, Perl, Vim, and Bash.
- Have experience with Mirth Connect, particularly HL7.
- Be willing to work occasional off-hours to perform migrations during periods of lower system activity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute end-to-end data migration strategies for Radiology Information Systems (RIS), transferring data from legacy platforms to modern solutions.
- Coordinate migration requirements and activities with customers, IT teams, clinical and administrative stakeholders, compliance officers, and third-party vendors.
- Extract, assess, map, clean, transform, and prepare clinical, operational, and administrative data from legacy systems.
- Build and maintain RIS master lists and reference tables, including physician, insurance, procedure, billing, and organizational information.
- Use ETL tools, SQL queries, and database management techniques to process data and resolve inconsistencies.
- Manipulate and convert data across CSV, Excel, SQL databases, Word documents, images, and PDFs.
- Validate migrated data and verify its completeness, accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Troubleshoot migration and system compatibility issues and implement corrective actions.
- Provide post-migration and go-live support, prepare migration documentation and reports, and communicate progress and outcomes.
- Train staff to access, manage, and use migrated data in the new RIS platform.
