Requirements
- Have deep experience with at least one backend language, such as Ruby, PHP, Java, Go, or Node.js.
- Bring curiosity to learn additional backend languages.
- Have experience designing and building REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Have solid experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Be familiar with NoSQL stores such as Redis or Elasticsearch.
- Have experience with distributed systems, queues, and event-driven architectures.
- Have production experience with performance optimization and caching.
- Have hands-on experience deploying services with CI/CD pipelines and containers such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Be able to communicate effectively and balance speed, quality, and pragmatism.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure backend services and APIs supporting tens of millions of users.
- Break down complex product requirements into technical plans and lead delivery of multi-sprint initiatives.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end features.
- Prototype ideas, validate feasibility, and surface trade-offs during product discovery.
- Improve observability, reliability, and operational standards.
- Drive best practices in performance, database design, and security.
- Write clean, well-tested code and uphold standards across CI/CD and documentation.
- Mentor other engineers.
