Requirements
- Have 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Demonstrate ownership of major production features or subsystems, ideally involving integrations or platform APIs.
- Bring deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Have strong system design skills for resilient integrations, including retries, idempotency, circuit breakers, rate limiting, webhook handling, and graceful degradation.
- Have experience designing or operating a public API or SDK, including versioning, authentication, contracts, and developer ergonomics.
- Have hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including schema design and query optimization.
- Have experience building or maintaining event-driven systems using Kafka.
- Be comfortable operating containerized applications in Kubernetes.
- Have experience refactoring complex or legacy integration code into modular, swappable, well-tested adapters.
- Demonstrate experience mentoring junior engineers and raising team quality standards.
- Be able to work effectively in high-ambiguity environments with incomplete, contradictory, or changing partner specifications.
Responsibilities
- Own the design and implementation of major integrations and subsystems, from partner evaluation through production rollout and ongoing operation.
- Build and maintain third-party data integrations and abstract providers behind clean, versioned internal contracts.
- Design, evolve, and operate public REST APIs and SDKs, including versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, and rate limiting.
- Translate ambiguous partner specifications, customer requirements, and vendor edge cases into technical designs.
- Write production code using Node.js, TypeScript, Nest.js, and React.js.
- Design and evolve PostgreSQL schemas for vendor responses, normalization layers, and crosswalking metadata.
- Build event-driven workflows with Kafka and Redis for enrichment, retries, dead-lettering, and backpressure.
- Deploy, monitor, and debug containerized integration services in Kubernetes, including alerts and runbooks.
- Refactor legacy integration code into modular, testable, swappable adapters and handle production incidents.
- Lead code reviews and coach engineers on integration patterns, resilience, testing strategy, and API design.
